This is the simplest dough recipe that will give you great results for any savoury tart or pie recipe.

You can tart this dough recipe up by adding a table spoon of dry ingredients such as thyme or rosemary leaves or if you readly want a great savoury version add two tablespoons or quality parmesan cheese finely grated.

  • 500gr butter
  • 1kg plain flour
  • 300ml full fat milk
  • 1 pinch salt

Mix flour and salt in a large bowl.
Using your fingertips or in a food processor blend together flour and butter until mixture resemble medium breadcrumbs.
Mix milk into flour mix until just combined.
Gently knead mixture together in the bowl until dough forms a smooth ball.
Form dough into a flat ball, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour before using.

Simple and quick to make, the secret is to not over work the dough, just bring the ingredients together and let it rest and chill before rolling out.
